Purchasing is responsible for standardizing, procuring, or supervising the procurement of all goods, services, and major repairs required by state agencies. Through its centralized purchasing authority, it may establish statewide contracts, including LaMAS
Contracts based on GSA contracts, available to all state agencies. Through its cooperative purchasing authority, Purchasing is able to extend the benefits of statewide contracts and opportunities to obtain low prices on quality products and services to all local and quasi governmental units.
As of January 1, 2015, the Louisiana Revised Statutes Title 39:1551-1755 provides for the laws governing the procurement of all goods, services, and major repairs required by state agencies.
