BATON ROUGE – Incoming Commissioner of Administration Paul Rainwater announced today that Mark Brady will serve as Deputy Commissioner of Administration, following the retirement of Barbara Goodson, who is retiring after 36 years of state service.  Goodson’s retirement is effective July 25.

Last week, Gov. Bobby Jindal appointed Rainwater to serve as Commissioner of Administration.

“In a distinguished career as a faithful public servant, Barbara has served the people of this state with distinction, diligence, a wealth of knowledge, and unique graciousness,” said Rainwater.  “Mark Brady is an innovative thinker who will provide strong leadership at DOA, which he has already demonstrated with his results-oriented management approach.”

Biography of Mark Brady

Mark Brady most recently served as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Commissioner of Administration.  Prior to joining the Division of Administration, Brady served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of the Arab Bankers Association of North America (ABANA).

Prior to joining ABANA, Brady was U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Services in Washington, D.C. He oversaw and managed three separate offices, which developed trade policy, identified foreign market barriers, and analyzed trends affecting the domestic and foreign competitiveness for U.S. businesses in the service, tourism and financial services industries.

Prior to assuming that position, Brady was appointed by President Bush to be the first Executive Director of Corporate Partnerships for the U.S. Commercial Service.  Before joining the Bush Administration, Brady was President of Manchester Partners, Inc., a corporate financial advisory firm where he worked with executive management of both publicly and privately held companies on financial management and international business development. Brady is a former member of the New Hampshire Legislature where he represented district 2 and served on the Commerce Committee. He has written and testified extensively on fiscal, health care, and environmental policy, and successfully sponsored legislation into law as a legislator.

He earned a degree in Economics from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, University of New Hampshire.
