Need help locating broken links, spelling errors, or making your website accessible to users with disabilities?
The Office of Technology Services is now offering a new service to Louisiana state agencies, SiteSmart, currently contracted out to Siteimprove.
The SiteSmart tool can assist with web development and maintenance in a variety of ways, such as:
- Checking for broken links - SiteSmart offers the ability to locate all broken links on your site, as well as interfacing with your CMS, to correct the link.
- Spell Checking - The software helps locate all misspelled words on your site. If it's a commonly used word, that is not recognized, but is actually a valid word for your site (like 'LaGov', for instance), SiteSmart provides the ability to add it to your dictionary.
- Accessibility Issues - 20% of America's population have some form of disability. SiteSmart provides an overview of your web site's accessibility issues, complete with recommendations on how to fix the issues found.
- Custom Reporting - Allows for design and scheduling of custom reports, with the ability to email reports to individuals or groups.
The base cost is very reasonable. For 1,000 pages, the annual cost would be approximately $5,000. Significant volume discounts are also available. The cost is approximately $5/web page, or $5000/yr for 1000 pages.
